BACK TO SCHOOL ICEBREAKERS: Activities for ESL learners (2)

》ACTIVITY for ESL learners: BACK TO SCHOOL (High Intermediate)《

This activity is designed as a mix of icebreakers for the first ESL class of the year. I use it with students in the French "Troisième LCE," which is comparable to an additional English class for American 9th graders.

The activity includes two icebreakers:

1. A "Who’s Who" game where students complete a sentence with their personal details. After collecting all the responses, the class guesses who wrote each one. Several options are included, even a blank grid.
2. A "Categories" game where students must find words that fit into different categories, with each word starting with a different letter.
